Prices of diesel, petrol, kerosene reduced: says President


President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said the Government has decided to reduce the price of fuel, and the electricity tariff from midnight yesterday.

The President said as a result of the commissioning of the Norochcholai coal power plant, the electricity tariff can be reduced by 25 percent, with effect from midnight yesterday.

In addition, the President said that the price of petrol will be reduced by 5 rupees per liter, kerosene by 20 rupees and diesel by 3 rupees respectively.

President made the announcement during the ceremony held at the Presidential secretariat to welcome the Chinese President.

Addressing the gathering Chinese President Xi Jin ping stated that China will render its continuous support to solve the power crisis in Sri Lanka.
