Sri Lanka Postal Service issued their first memorial stamp and special commemorative envelope adulating the majestic Sri Lanka cricketer, Mahela Jayawardena at the Adulation Ceremony organized by Nalanda College at the Grand ballroom, Galadari Hotel on Saturday.
Jayawardena met many of his school friends, old coaches on the occasion where Jayawardena delivered a speech reminiscing on his past life at school and his cricket career. Emotional Jayawardena let go some of the secrets he had held in his heart for more than 20 years at the occasion in front of some involved parties while thanking each and everybody who had helped and backed him from childhood.
His long time teammate and dear friend Kumar Sangakkara was present as guest of honour where he shared his past experiences with Jayawardena with the crowd where he described how he met Jayawardena during school days and how he showed his pure talent to silence the critics in the early stages.
Sri Lanka's first Test Captain, Bandula Warnapura, SLC Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, Olympic Committee President, Hemasiri Fernando, SLC capped player Thilina Kandamby, veteran coach Jayantha Senaviratne and many more were present at the occasion.
