Abduction: Main suspect involved in the Kurunegala child abduction case remanded

The main suspect arrested in connection to the abduction of four-year-old Thamara Keshani Bandara from the Nikadalupotha area in Kurunegala has been remanded.
The main suspect was arrested on Saturday in the Deegama area, which comes under the Wellawa Police Division. Two other suspects who were arrested have been remanded till September 24. One of them is said to be the mother of the chief suspect.
They were produced before an additional magistrate on Saturday night
The chief suspect in the abduction of Thamara Heshalee Wijekoon was arrested today by the police in the Deegama area, Wallawa.
The suspect was arrested following a special operation launched by the Wellawa police and the CID.
The suspect was also known in the Neriyawa area for attempting to enter into houses during the night, while covering himself in grease and stealing women’s clothes.
Therefore the suspect was also known by the name “grease Gamini”.
The Wellawa police said that this individual has been arrested in 2 previous occasions as well.
Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that the suspect has been handed over to the CID for further investigations.
