If you’re tired of the Ice Bucket Challenge, we understand. But that doesn’t mean its videos aren’t still getting views.
YouTube announced yesterday that a playlist containing all the best and most popular Challenges has reached 1 billion views.
It’s even topped the record-holding Harlem Shake, with two times the uploaded videos and three times the viewership. In short, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge had astounding results that no one could have predicted.
In a statement, YouTube deems it “one of the biggest video memes in the history of the Internet. Yeah, it’s that big.”
Topping the list of influential challenges are those of Bill Gates, Robert Downey, Jr., Paul Bissonnette and the Foo Fighters. Gates’ video has nearly 20 million views alone.
As the Challenge finally begins to wind to a close, researchers are looking at an accumulated $100 million dollars in donations.
The funds are astounding, especially given that two in every 100,000 people will die from the disease.
