A report has been called within 24 hours on the sudden deaths of four heart patients in Colombo National Hospital.
The Health Ministry stated that a three member committee chaired by Health Service Director General has been appointed in this regard.
Four heart patients out of six who undertook heart surgery at the Cardiology Unit of Colombo National Hospital on November 28 died due health complications.
Certain Media reported that the patients died due to the use of substandard chemical in surgeries.
When our news team contacted the health ministry, a senior spokesman stated that he cannot comment on the matter until an initial report is issued.
Meanwhile, Chairman of All Ceylon Health Services Association Gamini Kumarasinghe said investigations with regard to the sudden death should not be confined to committees but a genuine investigation should be conducted on the incident.
