The GMOA and the Combined Paramedics Front is scheduled to launch a token strike in hospitals island-wide from 8 a.m today to 8 a.m. tomorrow.
GMOA secretary Dr. Naveen de Soysa said that the strike launched in protest against the harm caused to Public Service and Free Health Service as a result of the budget proposals, would not be implemented in children’s hospitals, maternity hospitals, cancer hospitals and kidney treatment centres.
Similarly the paramedic services are launching the strike saying that the Health Ministry has not provided solutions to several problems including the absorption of the post of druggist into the paramedical service.
However, Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said that his ministry was prepared to face a strike of this nature.
