Reckless driving caused the death of five in Wadduwa

Reckless driving was the cause behind the Pothupitiya- Poddaramulla railway crossing in Wadduwa that left five dead last afternoon, police says.
Police said that the driver of the vehicle has continued to drive not heeding to the warning given by the railway crossing security guard. He has attempted to run over the guard during the incident too.
The deceased aged between 43-60 years, were residents of Kalutara North, Kudavaskaduwa and Wadduwa.
Railway Transport Superintendent Wijaya Samarasinghe says that an Assistant General Manager of Railways visited the site last afternoon to inquire about the accident.
The Superintendent said that the Railways Assistant General Manager’s report is due to be submitted to the General Manager of Railways this afternoon.
