Attorney General withdraws case against a defendant in the Katunayake Airport attack

The Colombo High Court Commissioner allowed the request of the Attorney General for withdrawing the case filed against a LTTE cadre, charged with causing a Rs 5550 crore rupee damage during an attack at the Katunayake Airport and Air Force Camp in 2001.

The Attorney General had informed court that he intended to withdraw the case since the defendant was currently serving a prison sentence, having pleaded guilty for the charge of having had in his possession two suicide kits, four hand grenades and pistol during the incident.
