Yala National Park closed for visitors


The Department of Wildlife Conservation says that the Yala National Park will be closed for  visitors from September 1 – 30, 2014. According to the department, this decision has been taken due to prevailing drought, and maintenance.

The department also notes that the closure will help restoration of the natural eco system.

The park will be re-opened for visitors on October 1, 2014.

According to the official government news portal, the Yala and Horton Plains National Park in Nuwara Eliya bring the highest revenue to the Wildlife Department.
