
Supermoon lights up the world

Sri Lankans got the chance to see the supermoon after 68 years.
The moon appeared 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter than usual making to light up the night magnificently.
Distance between the earth and moon is 384,400 km, however during this rare occurrence the moon came closer to earth and was seen at a distance of 356,509 km.
Meanwhile, Soraja Nuan-yoo, renowned for predicting the 2004 tsunami, said that when the Moon gets close to the Earth, "natural disasters happen".
