The Northern Provincial Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran says that an international court of justice is required as Sri Lanka has no War Crimes Act.
Wigneswaran mentioned this to Baroness Anelay when he met her in Jaffna. Baroness Anelay is UK’s Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the UN at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. She also acts as the Prime Minister's Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict.
The visiting UK Minister said that her country will make a 1.2 million Sterling Pound financial grant to Sri Lanka for de-mining activities in the North over the next three years.
One of the main organizations engaged in de-mining activities in the North is UK’s HALO trust.
The UK State Minister is scheduled to meet Prime Minster Ranil Wickremesinghe this afternoon.
