Remains of late Pandith Amaradeva to be kept at Independence Square, Colombo for public respect


Funeral of late Dr. Pandith W.D. Amaradeva will be held with full state honors at the Independence Square in Colombo tomorrow.

The President has declared a week of mourning since yesterday (03) Minister of Home Affairs Vajira Abeywardana said.

He also ordered the Sri Lankan national flag to be flown at half-staff in the memory of the late veteran musician.

Pandith Amaradeva passed away after he was rushed to the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital at around 6.40 am last morning.

He succumbed to his illness at 10.40am while being treated at the hospital’s ICU. He was 88.

His remains will be taken to the Independence Square in Colombo for public respect at 10.00am today.
