Guy Ritchie in Talks With Disney To Direct Live Action 'Aladdin' Re-Make

British director Guy Ritchie is said to be nearing a deal to take charge of a forthcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic movie Aladdin.

Disney’s original Aladdin, an adaptation of a Middle Eastern folk tale, was enormously successful nearly a quarter of a century ago, anchored around Robin Williams’ memorable performance as the Genie who grants Aladdin three wishes.

It became the highest-grossing movie of 1992, and won two Oscars the following year for Best Score and Best Song for ‘A Whole New World’.
