Discussions unsuccessful; strike continues for the 3rd day.

The strike launched by the Paramedical Joint Union Federation is underway for the third consecutive day today.
The General Secretary of the union Saman Jayasekera said that the strike will be continued as the two rounds of discussions held with the health officials concluded without providing solutions to their problems.
The General Secretary noted that the discussions held yesterday with the acting minister of health, Lalith Dissanayake were also futile.
A previous discussion held with the secretary to the ministry of health, Sudarmaa Karunaratna also concluded without any solutions.
The General Secretary of the Paramedical Joint Union Federation Saman Jayasekera told our news team that his union has also decided to withdraw from emergency services in hospitals.
The island-wide strike is initiated by 5 professionals belonging to the paramedical services, focusing on 6 demands.
This has disrupted the issuing of drugs to hospital wards and OPDs, numerous tests of blood samples as well as X-ray, scan and MRI services.
Acting minister of health Lalith Dissanayake expressed his views about the strike and the discussions held yesterday.
