Separate identity cards will be issued to members of transgender community in the state. For the purpose, a committee will be constituted in each district headed by the collector.
The decision came during the first meeting of the newly constituted board for transgender welfare which was held in the city on Friday. The meeting was headed by minister for social justice and empowerment Arun Chaturvedi. In the meeting, members and representatives of various departments took part. "Identity cards will help transgenders to avail the benefits of state government and Central government schemes of different departments including health and education," said Pushpa, a transgender and member of the board.
