The Sri Lanka Army has vehemently denied allegations that rehabilitated LTTE cadres have been given poisonous vaccinations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner’s Office for Rehabilitation stated that so far nearly 12,000 LTTE members have been reintegrated in to society.
28 out of them have passed away due to various reasons such as accidents, suicides or cancer.
The US had also backed out of examining rehabilitated LTTE cadres although a request was made by the Northern Province Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence has said that there is no truth to the report published in a weekend newspaper that 64 Army camps in the East are to be withdrawn.
In a statement the Ministry stated that there was no reduction in the number of camps maintained in Trincomalee, Ampara and Batticaloa although such misinformation was mentioned in the relevant newspaper report.
Camps are been maintained as part of a holistic plan to ensure national security in the Country.
