Former Minister Arumugam Thondaman accompanied by a group of persons visited the Dimbula Police, after a chief priest of a Hindu Kovil at Kotagala, Hatton was summoned for an inquiry yesterday.
The priest was summoned, over a complaint received by the Dimbula Police in connection with the removal of a cut-out set up near the Kovil by the Tamil Progressive Alliance party.
Minister P. Digambaran is the Deputy leader of the relevant party.
According to our correspondent, the former Minister Arumugam Thondaman and the group discussed regarding the matter with a police officer at the Dimbula Police yesterday.
The former Minister has shown that it was not ethically appropriate to summon a priest to the police, upon a mere complaint.
According to our correspondent, the former Minister, several representatives and the relevant priest have later entered the police.
