Yusra Mardini, Syrian Christian refugee swimmer

Yusra Mardini, the Syrian Christian refugee who competed at the Rio Olympics 2016, has vowed to keep swimming and help tell the story of refugees to the world.

Mardini finished seventh in the 100-meter freestyle swimming competition in the Rio Olympics 2016 on Wednesday. Together with other athletes from Syria, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the 18-year-old Syrian Christian swimmer has helped orient the international community about the plight of the people displaced by violence and persecution, Christian Today details.
