Sri Lankan wins bronze at Nanjing Youth Olympics

An eighteen-year-old Sri Lankan has won bronze in the Badminton Mixed Doubles at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.

Sachin Dias and his partner from China He Bingjiao won the match in three sets, 18-21 21-17 21-17.

Hosts China won gold with Yu Hexin first in the men’s 50m butterfly, and the Chinese women’s 4x100m relay team also won gold.

The Netherlands took victory when Maaike de Waard won the women’s 50m backstroke. Renato Paratore of Italy and Lee Soyoung of Korea were the individual stroke play winners in golf.

Zhu Xueying of China was the women’s trampoline winner, and Armenia’s Hakov Mkrtchyan won gold in the men’s 77kg weightlifting category.
