Court gave permission to the FCID to examine the bank accounts of former minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa. The former minister has been charged with buying a plot of land for 64 million rupees in Malwana and building a house on it at a cost of 125 million rupees.

Counsel appearing on behalf of the defendant said that it had become necessary for Basil Rajapaksa to report at a number of police stations over bail orders of several courts.

Accordingly Justice D. A. Ruwan Patirana made the bail condition more lenient ordering that as opposed to once every month , the defendant appear before the FCID once every two months on the last Sunday of that month.
