Voting in favour of VAT Act only if amended – a statement from UPFA

UPFA General Secretary Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says that the UPFA will vote for the draft VAT Act in parliament only if certain amendments have been made to it.
The UPFA general secretary made the statement to media after a discussion with SLFP ministers held at the Presidential Secretariat last afternoon.
Meanwhile participating at a function held in Mutwal yesterday finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said that amendments would be made to the VAT draft bill Act prior to it being submitted to the cabinet at the meeting today.
The Speaker is scheduled to inform parliament today of the Supreme Court verdict on the draft VAT Act.
