Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samaravikrama says that the proposed Indo – Sri Lanka Economic and Technological Co-operation Agreement will be signed by the end of this year.
At a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday the Minister said that in addition the Free Trade Agreement between Singapore and Sri Lanka would be signed during the latter half of this year and the agreement with China would be inked in March next year.
However National Trade Union Centre chairman K. D. Lal kaantha said that it was necessary that political parties work together to defeat ETCA without being divided by trade union differences.
The chairman said so while participating at the launch of the one million handbill distribution programme themed “Let us mobilize to defeat ETCA that causes salary reduction and job loss”.
