Sri Lanka meteorological department predicts showery condition to enhance over the island, particularly in the central hills and in the Eastern province during next few days- till 18th of July, 2016.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
They further predict that showers or thunder showers will occur elsewhere, particularly after 2.00 pm.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.
Meanwhile, showers or thunder showers may occur at several places over the other sea areas around the island, particularly after 2.00 pm.
Winds will be westerly or south-westerly in direction and speed will be 30-40 kmph.
The sea area extending from Colombo to Kankasanturai via Puttalam and Mannar, and the sea area extending from Pottuvil to Matara via Hambantota can be fairly rough at times as the wind speed can increase up 50 kmph.
