A discussion regarding the bus fare revisions will take place today between representatives of bus organizations and the Ministry of Transport. A decision on the changes to bus fares will be taken today.
The revision will then be presented at the cabinet tomorrow.
Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) is anticipating a hike between eight to ten per cent. The association demanded the increase on July 01st, when the annual bus fare revision took place.
Accordingly, they demanded to raise the minimum fare Rs. 08 to Rs. 10.
The LPBOA vowed to launch an island wide strike if the state failed to meet their demand.
