One Out of Six Lankans Suffer from Chronic Diseases


A self published national research report by the Department of Census and Statistics claims that one out of six Sri Lankans suffer from a chronic disease.

The research published yesterday discloses that 18% of Lankans suffer from chronic high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks, cancers or mental diseases.

The percentage of people suffering of chronic diseases from the population aged over 60 years rise as much as 50% of the total set.  

Meanwhile the report declares that the frequency of diseases spreading among children under 15 years of age has rapidly escalated.
