Cabinet Approves Continuation Of Anti-Corruption Secretariat

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the continuation of the Anti-Corruption Committee Secretariat.
The proposal tabled by Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe to continue the activities of the Anti-Corruption Committee Secretariat was accordingly approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The government intends to establish a body vested with powers to tackle fraud and corruption while formulating a new structure.
Accordingly the government will establish a similar body to that of the Serious Fraud Office of the United Kingdom.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is of the view that the continuation the Anti-Corruption Committee Secretariat is vital until such time Serious Fraud Office is established in Sri Lanka.
