Police investigation against the opposition leader

The Kilinochchi police have commenced investigations into an incident where opposition leader R. Sampanthan and ministers of the Tamil National Alliance had supposedly entered an Army camp in the Kilinochci- Parawipanjaan area by force.

Opposition Leader and ministers of the party, S. Sridharan and M. A Sumandhiram have attempted to enter the Gajaba regiment in the Parawipanjaan area following a meeting at their party office on the 16th of April.

The Commanding officer of the camp and a few others had filed a complaint regarding the matter to the police.

The army camp under the Gajaba Regiment had been a financial division of the LTTE in the past.

Meanwhile, opinions were expressed yesterday at a media briefing held with regard to the incident where a group including the Opposition leader entered an Army camp in Kilinochchi by force.

PHU parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila noted at a media briefing convened by the joint opposition that the police should take necessary action to arrest the opposition leader with regard to the matter.
