Sri Lanka to Sign Paris Agreement on Climate Change Today

Sri Lanka signs the historic Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the United Nations headquarters, New York today- along with other 170 countries.
Minister of Science, Technology and Research Susil Premajayantha will be signing the agreement on behalf of the Sri Lankan government.
Sri Lanka agreed to contribute to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the 21st session of the UN Framework Convention held in Paris on Environmental disaster (UNFCCC) during 30th November to 11th December last year.
The Paris Agreement is a global move to combat climate change and encourage actions and investment towards a low carbon, resilient and sustainable future.
The main aim of it is to commit to maintain the global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius in the 21st century.
