Sri Lankans have been asked to inform their relatives still staying in West African countries to return immediately because of the threat of contracting the dreaded Ebola virus, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) said.
It said some 200 Sri Lankans were employed in western African countries such as Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
“There are Sri Lankans who had registered with the Bureau and those who had not. However, it’s not the number that matters. The families can inform the unregistered Sri Lankan employees in the West African region, of the health risk they are facing and convince them to return as soon as possible,” SLBFE Spokesman Mangala Randeniya said today.
