St Lucia Ground renamed after Sammy

The main cricket ground in St Lucia will be named after West Indies’ Darren Sammy, the island announced.

This comes after their ICC World Twenty20 win under Sammy’s lead.

Kenny Anthony, the St Lucia Prime Minister, said on Tuesday (April 5) that the Beausejour Stadium will be renamed Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in his honour.

Sammy is the first international cricketer to emerge from the island nation, having made his One-Day International debut against New Zealand in 2004.
