Govt. To Scrutinize If Rajapakshas Are Among Sri Lankan Panama-Account Holders


Irish Times revealed that three firms, three clients and twenty two share holders of Sri Lankan origin are among many who allegedly laundered money with Panama-based firm.

A leak of confidential documents from a Panama-based law firm named Mossack Fonseca has shocked international arena by revealing how tax havens are used to hide the assets of some wealthiest in the world.  

The leak unveiled names of prominent artists and leading political figures of the world that used Panama accounts to allegedly launder money.

While a number of prominent state actors such as India and Australia have initiated their investigations to entrap the clients of Panama-based firm, Sri Lanka is scrutinizing if former president Rajapaksha’s family or friends have any ties to the global financial fraud.
