Former President meets PM over the removal of security

A discussion was held between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the parliamentary complex yesterday.
MP Ranjith Soysa representing the Joint Opposition said that on this occasion a discussion had been held with regard to removing army soldiers and deploying police personnel to replace them.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Media Unit also confirmed that army personnel deployed for the former President’s security detail, have been removed and police personnel have been deployed in their place.
Meanwhile the ‘Pevidi Handa’ charged that information received in relation to the removal of army security that had been presented to the former president.

The acting Military spokesman said that, to date, the army had not been made aware of such.
