Expert’s assistance for preparing the countries future economic plans

A special discussion with regard to obtaining the expert government officials’ views for preparing the country’s future economic plans was held with President Maitripala Sirisena at the chair yesterday.
The Presidential Media Division said that the expert assistance was thus being obtained for the country’s future economic plans aimed at a model nation with a firm development possessing a high income and creating a satisfied and peaceful society.
MPs and Ministers including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanaayake, Ministry secretaries including Presidential Secretary P. B. Abeykoon, senior government officers as well as a group of intellectuals including University lecturers and professors participated in the discussion organized under the theme ‘Sri Lanka’s economy and future journey’.
The Presidential Media Division said that lengthy discussions had been held at this meeting on preparing economic plans aimed at fulfilling the country’s development targets.
On this occasion the experts had expressed views about methodologies to be adopted in fulfilling Sri Lanka’s intermediary targets such as generating a million employment opportunities, raising the people’s income level, widening the rural economic development in order to create a wide and strong middle class.
On this occasion the President said that through discussions like these, academicians as well as intellectuals could freely express their views as the drawbacks of the government could be identified and also future development and economic plans will be prepared.
