Prime Minister says a new constitution to be introduced before 2017

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the government anticipates getting the new Constitution passed before the 70thanniversary of Sri Lankan parliament in 2017.

Addressing a conference, held with the objective of educating parliamentarians about the new Constitution, the Premier said a prime objective of the new Constitution is to introduce a new voting system.

He further said one cannot become a true Buddhist merely because he or she visits every temple in the country without following the ten principles of ruling a country introduced in Buddhism.
