2 former Pradeshiya Saba members arrested for attacking Presidents election office


Two former members of the Dimbulagala Pradeshiya Sabha have been arrested by the Police Special Investigation Unit last night.

The two individuals were arrested in connection with shooting at the political office of President Maithripala Sirisena causing injuries to two of the president’s supporters during the last presidential election.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Dhammika Nishantha and Anuradha Rathnayake. 

They will be produced before Polonnaruwa Magistrate today.  Police said four more suspects are to be arrested in connection with the same incident.
