
President appoints the public services commission for the next 3 years

President Mahinda Rajapaksa appointed nine members to the Public Service Commission at a function held at the Temple Trees.
The Commission, appointed for a three-year term will be chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge Sathya Hettige.
The other members of the Commission include S.C. Mannapperuma, Ananda Seneviratne, N. H. Pathirana, S.Thillanadarajah, A Mohamed Nahiya, Kanthi Wijetunga, Sunil S. Sirisena and Specialist Doctor I. N. Soysa.
In terms of Clause 55 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka, the Public Service Commission is vested with the power of appointment, promotion, transfer and disciplinary control subject to the provisions of the Constitution.
