Tamil Nadu Chief Minister seeks Indian Prime Minister's intervention to get 64 fishermen released from Sri Lanka


Following the arrest of 29 Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy on Sunday, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa has written to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to personally intervene to secure the release of all 64 fishermen and 77 boats from Sri Lankan custody.

In a letter to the Indian Prime Minister, the Chief Minister brought to notice the recent arrest of the fishermen and reminded the Prime Minister that prior to the most recent occurrence, 35 fishermen and 73 fishing boats were still in Sri Lankan custody.
