The joint opposition request premiership for former President

Joint Opposition MP Kumar Welgama says former president Mahinda Rajapaksa should be appointed as the Prime Minister in order to protect the SLFP.

Addressing a meeting in Agalawatta yesterday, he said that the 96 elected MPs of the UPFA could form a SLFP government if they obtained the support of a group, serving in the current government.

Meanwhile addressing a public gathering in Matale, deputy minister Nandimitra Ekanayake said the current government will not collapse even if its SLFP members withdrew from the government.
