The Embilipitiya youth’s body be exhumed or not; decision today

The decision is to be made today as to whether the body of Sumith Prasanna, who died in Ambilipitiya should be exhumed and a post mortem be performed again.

Senior State Counsel Sudarshana Perera appearing for the Attorney General requested the Ambilipitiya Magistrate to issue the order.

The Counsel said further that it was obvious that the report that the Ratnapura forensic officer submitted  and the evidences given  during the hearing of the case were contradictory.

Accordingly Ambilipitiya Additional Magistrate Prasanna Fernando who considered the submissions said that the decision about this would be given today.

A new development in the case , the CID informed Court yesterday that there is another witness for the case of the murder.

CID told Court that the new witness is a person with an oral disability.

Accordingly Ambilipitiya Magistrate Prasanna Fernando ordered that the principal of the Ratmalana School for the Deaf and Blind assist with recording a statement from the witness.

Ambilipitiya former ASP D.C. Dharmarathna was further remanded until today.

Expressing his views to media after the hearing of the case, President’s Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya, appearing for the aggrieved party,  said that six more persons are expected to be arrested.
