Police in Oman say a bus crash has killed at least eighteen people and injured fourteen others in the sultanate. The number of victims is expected to rise.
The crash occurred between a bus, a truck and a car on the Ibri Fahud Road, west of Muscat.
Six Omanis, four Saudis, two Pakistanis and a Yemeni were among those killed in the accident that occured at 12.30 a.m. on Tuesday (01). Five other people killed in the accident have not yet been identified, Police told Gulf News.
Sixteen people were injured, including 11 Omanis, two Saudis, a Pakistani and a Chinese. Most of the injured are in intensive care at Nizwa and Ibri Hospitals.
The Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO) dispelled the rumous on social media that no one of its staff was involved in the accident.
A PDO medical team helped in recovering those trapped in the wreckage, and helped transfer some of the victims to Nizwa Hospital.
