Case against former corporative and trade Minister Johnston Fernando

The Attorney General has filed a case at the Kurunegala High Court against former Cooperative and Trade Minister Johnston Fernando charging him of causing a 52 million and 75 thousand rupee loss to the government by obtaining commercial goods belonging to the CWE without paying.
Reports say that the former minister, his private secretary and former CWE chairman have been named as the accused in the cased.
Meanwhile former Minister MP Johnston Fernando was released on bail in the case instituted over the charge of non submission of assets and liabilities statements.
The Bribery or Corruption Commission had instituted a case against the former Minister at the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s court with regard to non submission of assets and liabilities statements for five years from 2010.
On this occasion the Judge also issued an order barring foreign travels to the bailed defendant MP.
The case will be recalled for hearing on 27th April.
