The final report on ITN incident to be presented to President next month


The final report of the investigations conducted by the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Massive Fraud and Corruption over the ITN incident scheduled to be submitted to the President next month.

Secretary of the Commission Lacil de Silva said a copy of the same report will also be forwarded to the Attorney General as well.

The Massive Fraud and Corruption Commission commenced investigations three months ago, over the non payment of advertising fees to the ITN for its telecasting former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s propaganda during the last presidential election .

Statements have been recorded from former President Rajapaksa; his media minister Keheliya Rambukwella and several ex officers of the ITN with regard to this incident.

Meanwhile former president Rajapaksa arrived at the Commission for the second day of testifying.  A commission spokesman stated that several vital pieces of information have been revealed in connection with the incident during the preliminary testifying and the testifying of respondents.

The Commission Secretary also said that the respondents will be sued on the charges listed in the final report to be recommended by the five member Commission.
