High Court decision to consider Yoshitha’s bail application postponed to February 29th


The Colombo High Court decided to postphone considering the bail application filed for five suspects including Yoshitha Rajapaksa to 29th February.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa and the other four suspects have been remanded in connection with charges under the Money Laundering Act.

Accordingly High Court Judge J.A.A.R. Heyantuduwa issued notices on the respondents of the Case, the Attorney General and the OIC of the Police Financial Crime Investigation Division ordering them to appear before Court on February 29th.

The lawyers who appeared for the petitioners’ faction told Court that the ruling given by the Kaduwela Magistrate on January 30th was illegal.

 The High Court requested that  the original documents relevant to this Case be brought from Kaduwela Magistrate Court.  Accordingly the High Court Judge ordered to bring the respective documents created between January 29th and February 1st.
