$ 15 b windfall if tourism rethinks its model

A report by a research arm shows that Sri Lanka’s tourism proposition needs to go for a complete shift to bring in a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 60% which will in turn translate to a 15 billion dollars opportunity by 2018 year-end.

At the current state of affairs tourism earnings CAGR will be contracted to 30% which is 7 billion dollars, if the proposition remains unchanged.

The research firm projected that luxury apartments could be rented out at a lesser cost than luxury hotels, making it more economically viable.
