
Dallas says that Speaker Karu Jayasuriiya disappointed the joint opposition

The Joint Opposition says that all its fresh hopes have been rendered void due to the Speaker’s current line of action.
MP Dullas Alahapperuma said so while participating at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday.
A tense situation erupted in parliament yesterday when passing the draft local government election amendment Act.
Subsequently MPs representing the Joint Opposition called an emergency media briefing to say that the passing of the draft Act was illegal.
However on this occasion the Joint Opposition MPs pointed out that they didn’t get their due opportunity in parliament.
Meanwhile journalists inquired from the Joint Opposition with regard to the action that would be taken if the current situation prevailed in the future as well.
MPs Dinesh Gunawardhana and Dullas Alahapperuma who participated in the media briefing responded as follows:
Pivituru Hela Urumaya general secretary Udaya Gammanpila who participated in the media briefing said that the Government was not giving the joint opposition its due place in parliament hoping to make it submissive to the Government.
