MOU to be signed between Sarath Fonseka’s Democratic Party and UNF tomorrow

A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the United National Front and the Democratic Party lead by Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka tomorrow afternoon.
The two parties decided to enter into an agreement following discussions between Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka and UNP Leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
A Democratic Party spokesman stated that his party will contest the forthcoming local government polls under the UNF ticket. At the same time Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka will be sworn in as an MP to fill the parliamentary seat vacated by the late M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardana.
At the same time, a ministerial position of the Western Provincial Council will also be offered to Fonseka’s Democratic Party.
Political sources said that the Democratic Party will probably be given the Provincial Council, Health and Indigenous Ministry which was earlier held by Nishantha Warnasinghe of Hela Urumaya.
The spokesman also said that several top state positions will also be given to Sarath Fonseka’s party supporters.
Meanwhile Chief Prelate of the Kandy Asgiri Chapter, the Most Venerable Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera said today he is happy to see Fonseka being appointed to parliament.
