New Commander appointed for SL Navy


A special event was organised at the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Navy this morning for the New Navy Commander to assume duties.

Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera who joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1978 was appointed as the new commander.

He is a proud product of Thurstan College Colombo.

He had followed a Naval Staff Course in India and National Defence Course at the National Defence University Islamabad, Pakistan.

He also participated in the Combined Force Maritime Component Commander Course conducted by the United States Naval War College in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii.

Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera has commanded various ships in the Sri Lanka Navy including the Sri Lanka Navy Flag Ship SLNS Sayura.

He also served as the Deputy Area Commander for the Eastern Naval Area during the year 2006.
