The 8 supporters of MP hirunika premachandra, charged with the abduction and assault of a youth, to be further remanded till Wednesday

The eight supporters of Hirunika Premachandra who have been accused with the assault and abduction of a resident of Dematagoda have been further remanded until next Wednesday. When the suspects were produced before Court this morning, the Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered to produce the suspects for an identification parade next Wednesday.
The Colombo Crime Division, in its report to Court stated that the Defender jeep numbered 62-18-59 is registered under Hirunika Premachandra’s name.
The Crime Division also stated that the Attorney General’s advice has been sought after , with regard to the incident and, the process is still continuing.
A 34 year old employee of a Textile shop in Dematagoda was abducted by a group of persons who drove in a Defender Jeep belonging to Hirunika Premachandra on December 21st.
Police questioned Hirunika Premachandra on two occasions in connection with the incident and recorded statements. However MP Premachandra who was directly involved in the abduction has not yet been arrested.
