
Rajarata University opened after 30 day closure

Rajarata University was reopened today after being closed for 30 days due to the protests of the students.
The Registrar of the university A.N.G.B. Abeysinghe stated that the students and lecturers returned today for academic activities as usual.
He further stated that the premises remain peaceful and that the lectures are currently being held.
The students Association of Rajarata University staged a protest in front of the university’s main gate on the 11th of December last year.
They protested regarding 9 demands including to remove the class suspension imposed on 28 students.
Anuradhapura Magistrate courts issued an order to remove the hut and suspend the Satyagraha.
However, the students continued their protest campaign disregarding the court order.
After the academic activities commenced today at Rajarata University, the 238 days of Satyagraha protest which was staged in front of the University was suspended.
