The Maha Viru Commemoration in the north paves the way for Elam, says former president

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that if certain groups commemorate the Maha Viru Day in the north, it will be an event paving the way for Eelam.

The Former President said so while participating at a religious function held in Tangalle yesterday.

Meanwhile, participating in a media briefing held in Jaffna yesterday, TNA Northern Provincial Councillor M. K. Sivaajilingam said that a special Commemoration was scheduled to be held tomorrow for reminiscing Tamil citizens killed in war.

Our reporters said that during the past few days posters had been put up with an invitation to participate in the commemoration.

However the Police says that it is illegal to distribute posters and handbills commemorating an organisation banned in the country.

Police Media Spokesman’s office said that if such activity or function had been organized the Security Forces would take steps to prevent it.
